How can you tell if someone can hear your car stereo more then 75 feet away from ur car? The state of Arizona has done studies that say you cant. Each person hears sound in differant ways. Just because I can hear it 75 feet away doesnt mean you can hear it 75 feet away. The only way to make this ordinance right is to get a devise that can measure sound. I dont think the City of Decatur has one, and if they do they are not using it. Every police officer should carry one if they want to keep this Ordinance in place. If not it is a violation of our rights as Americans. The state of Virginia says "Virginia Supreme Court Declares Noise Ordinance Unconstitutional". So why does the state of Illinois say its not? Ill tell you why
no one has tried to fight it. WELL IM SICK OF IT. I want this ordinance dead, Or changed to 8pm to 8 am no loud music. That would be fine with me and most of you. We need to go to the city counsel on June 22 at 5:30 pm and let them know how most of decatur feels about this. They are listening to the few and not the many.

Decatur Illinois has a sound ordinance that is targeting young people who like to listen to there music. 500 dollars is a little high to charge someone for listening to music, Plus they impound your car and charge you as a criminal. A CRIMINAL like a drug dealer or a thief because u like to listen to music. I want everyone who reads this and has an opinion about it to message me at sonny.olaughlin@yahoo.com, I need all the support I can get to change or remove this ordinance. Call the Mayor Mike McElroy at (217) 424-2804 and let him know how u feel about this.
